MISSION
OMIG has been working uninterruptedly in the gear manufacturing market since 1978. Full customer satisfaction is one of OMIG's top priorities, a goal achieved through constant affirmation of its position in the European and global markets. The consultancy services OMIG provides for its customers makes the company much more than a supplier: a skilled and expert partner backed by intensive research and development commitments able to create added value for its products and obtain long-term acknowledgement from its customers. .

BACKGROUND
It was in September of 1966 when Oliviero Cocchi and his nephew Enzo Iori embarked together upon the adventure that, within just a few years, will be boasting 50 years of history: the history of an enterprise, OMIG, and a family called Cocchi. The newly established company was named OMIG, i.e. Officina Meccanica In Genere, and it opened the doors of its first headquarters in via Monari 3, Reggio Emilia, where its first turning jobs began.

1978 was a year of change in the corporate structure when Ivano Cocchi, Oliviero's son, joined the company. The business moved to the new headquarters of via Cattaneo 2, in Reggio Emilia, where the production of gears was added to the company's sub-contracted turning work.

The first of OMIG's two founders gave way to the new generation in 1981. Oliviero Cocchi withdrew from the company, which from that time on, comprised two fifty-percent partners: Ivano Cocchi and Enzo Iori. Meanwhile, the company grew and, for the second time, the factory was no longer large enough, forcing the partners to rent the building at number 1 via Cattaneo, where it is still situated to this very day.

OMIG's course was mapped out during those years: the company became increasingly more specialized in the production of parts for transmission components. A great deal of attention was paid to training and specializing the personnel. A large number of employees were recruited at that time and this allowed OMIG to become one of the best companies as to product quality and customer service.

It was 6 June 1986 when the history of OMIG changed. Enzo Iori died prematurely at only 41 years of age, a sad event that shocked the entire company, family and Ivano Cocchi, who remained alone at the company's helm. To re-establish the corporate structure, Daniela Bertini, Ivano Cocchi's wife and Adria Rompianesi, Enzo Iori's widow became partners in the company in December of the same year, but Adria transferred her share to Daniela after only two years.

OMIG continued to grow, and the market of agricultural and industrial machines facilitated its development. The present day corporate structure, with Daniela Bertini possessing 30% of the shares and her husband Ivano Cocchi the majority shareholder with 70%, was finally established in the summer of 1988. The foreign markets gave a further boost to OMIG's development during those years. Most especially, Germany and Spain were the markets where OMIG's quality was appreciated by manufacturers of agricultural and industrial machines, final drives and special equipment.

In October 1998, a new important step forwards for OMIG: Vittorio Cocchi, Ivano’s uncle and Oliviero’s brother, sells its namesake business to OMIG, compacting all the activities of the family under the sole administration of Ivano Cocchi.

During the last few years, OMIG has concentrated its investments in development and innovation by acquiring advanced computer-driven and technological equipment as well as a metrology lab, all of which have improved the global organization of the production department to an even further degree. Always acknowledged by the market, OMIG's QUALITY and SERVICE continue to comply with the best international standards thanks to an investment plan whereby production will be boosted during the next few years with a steady increase in the quality of the products, all to the benefit of both potential new markets and customers who have appreciated OMIG's work for years.
